How to - paint a picture

  • original image ("Vanity Fair" 2018)
  • colour changed model for the painting
  • too much fake teint (alias orange) :s
  • She needs to "blush"!

How to - build a frame

  • Frame version 1: the ornamental strip is too "kitsch", though the top part looks alright!?
  • Put together with the strip version 2 ... might do, but it still feels too heavy. Kind of suffocates the image.
  • So I cut it all into pieces and put the "I like"-parts back together to create my own version 3 of framing strip. :)
  • reinforced with wooden laths
  • letting the adhesive & spattling compound dry
  • miter cutting the version-3-strips
  • sticking the frame parts together one by one
  • drying again
  • filling the gabs
  • Looking good already! But white does not befit the painting's meaning let's say...
  • :)
  • To fix the canvas to the frame I mount some wooden planks to its left and right.
  • Painting the frame the colour it needs to be...
  • ...which is of course black!
  • That's it. Coherent.
  • But I did actually want a monstrous 3-dimensionally overloaded heavy somewhat purgatory-like frame for that scene, as it is one full of evil.
  • I sure enough am in the posession of a hell of a lot of stuff to monstrously overload a frame with!
  • Speaking of the devil ('s horns)...
  • ...and "chains" he binds you with.
  • While the (long gone) stars twinkle on the canopy.

  • done

  • frame & painting ... almost done
  • Last step - filling the wholes in the wooden beads with pins ... only about what feels like 3000 of them :o

BIKE-HIKE-MIKE

Amongst my EN-TOUR-(of all)AGE are a numerous "those" who like to cycle.

Mountain, gravel, dirt, BMX ... - you name it, someone has & does it.

 

At first I meant to Valentin present one of them cyclopses with this...

 

Finally I handed it to one who likes to swop between his many rides and whose birthday happened to be around that time.

 

Any way - just as well.

  • Inspiration for the backdrop - with mountains and sun.
  • Maybe do the mountains in a geometric "graphic" style?!

  • That "slash" quite looks like a handlebar, no?! ... And N ike is as close to B ike - as C is to O!
  • the draft on scale paper -> each pixel = one stitch

  • ...and another tree infront of a mountain - all 3 in 1 bike!
  • The coronary blood vessel needs to be enlarged to work and the wheels a path to roll on.
  • Ready for the Iron, Man!
  • Struggling with setting the boundaries to it all.
  • Asked for a favorite he said he had none...
  • ...and uttered a fatal "whatever colour - gaudy is key".
